The Beautiful Liturgy of Saint Chrysostom

Recently Epiphany of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church in Saint Petersburg Fl. had its parish mission. These are some pictures I took during the liturgy. Next time I will try a tripod!

Images of Contemplation II

I took these two photos in a Church in Venice. I tried to make the crucifix the focal point of the photo, yet trying to use the background of the Church to really bring out the meaning of it. I can't decide which perspective I like better so I put them both up.

Ravenna: The Light in the Darkness and The Cherub Looking back..

The first photo was taken at the Basilica Di San Giovanni Ev. on my trip to Ravenna in 2007.

The second photo was taken at the church of San Vitale in Ravenna. It is one of my favorite churches that I have ever had the opportunity to visit. I like the dimension to this particular photo and how the cherub on the ledge seems to be leering back at me as I am in awe taking the photo.

Images of Contemplation

Here is a picture that I took when I was in Venice in 2007. Unfortunately I don't remember what Church it was. I was surprised how well it came out when I got back home and loaded it onto my computer. The slight blur in the picture was unintentional, but I thought it added a certain contemplative element to it.

Welcome to Sanctus Imago

My name is Matthew Bellisario. I am a devout Catholic of the Eastern Rite. I run a Catholic Web Journal called Catholic Champion, and I also run the Catholic Champion blog. It is my love to take photographs of Catholic Churches, sacred images and the like. Over the years I have put together a nice collection. I have been blessed to be able to travel to Italy twice now and I have also been able to travel around the country as well. I wanted to share some of my favorite pictures with you. I decided to put together this blog so I can post some of them. Comments are always welcome. I hope you enjoy!
